Camden County High School & Camden Early College High School Groundbreaking Ceremony was held on July 14, 2025

NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING CCS BOE
The Camden County Schools Board of Education will hold a special meeting on June 25, 2025, beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Camden County Schools Conference Room located at 118 NC Highway 343 North, Camden, NC 27921. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss and possibly take action on Financial Updates and Budget Amendments to close out the 2024-2025 fiscal year, and to discuss and possibly take action on one or more matters relating to the employment of personnel. The Board will also hold a closed session at the beginning of the meeting in accordance with N.C.G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(1), to prevent the disclosure of information that is privileged or confidential or confidential or not considered a public record under N.C.G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(1) pursuant to N.C.G.S. §§ 115C-319, 115C-402, and 20 U.S.C. § 1232(g); N.C.G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(3), in order to confer with the Board Attorney regarding a matter within the attorney/client privilege and to preserve that privilege; and N.C.G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(6), in order to discuss one or more personnel matters that are confidential under North Carolina law. The Camden County Board of Education will hold a special meeting on June 18, 2025,
beginning at 6:30 p.m.at 104 Issac Court, Camden, NC 27921 for the purpose of holding a
closed session as permitted by N.C.G.S. § 143-318.11(a)(6) in order to consider the
qualifications, competence, performance, character, fitness, conditions of appointment, or
conditions of initial employment of an individual public officer or employee or prospective public
officer or employee. No action is expected to be taken after the Board returns to open session.

The Camden Board of Education will hold a called meeting on June 12, 2024 beginning at 5:00
p.m. at the Camden County Library. The purpose of the meeting is to hold a closed session
to consider matters involving confidential student information, to consult with the Board Attorney
regarding matters protected by the attorney/client privilege and to preserve that privilege, and to
consider one or more confidential personnel matters.” as allowed by N.C.G.S.143-318.1(a)(1)
and N.C.G.S. 143-318.11(a)(6). Open session will begin at 7:00 p.m. Some personnel actions

“The Camden County Board of Education will hold a Special Called Meeting to conduct a joint session with the Camden County Board of Commissioners on April 16, 2025, beginning at 5:30 P.M., at the Camden County Public Library, to discuss the construction of the new Camden County High School, which may include but is not limited to consideration of the guaranteed maximum price, the contract addendum establishing the guaranteed maximum price, and other associated factors with the project. The Board may also take action to approve the guaranteed maximum price and contract addendum for the guaranteed maximum price, and/or make other revisions to the guaranteed maximum price, contract, or contract addendum. There will not be a closed session or a public comment segment during the Special Called Meeting, nor will the meeting be livestreamed.”

Camden County Schools will have remote instruction on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, and all after-school activities are canceled or rescheduled.
Essential Personnel for Camden County Schools will report until 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, and all Camden County Schools and offices will close at 11:00 a.m.
Grades K-5 remote instruction packets will be available at Grandy Primary and Camden Intermediate Schools from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. today, Tuesday, February 18th.
Packets will be left outside the schools in containers after 4:00 p.m. today.
Packets will also be available at the schools on Wednesday, February 19th, from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Grades K-5 remote instruction packets will also be available online on GPS/CIS websites, Infinite Campus, and Google Classroom.
Remote instruction for grades 6-12 will be posted on Canvas.
We will send out information for the rest of the week as the inclement weather situation progresses.

The Camden County Board of Education will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. on Monday,
December 2nd at the Central Office. The purpose of the meeting is to elect a Board Chair and
Vice Chair for the 2025 calendar year. The meeting is open to the public.

Camden County Board of Education has appointed G. Wayne White to fill Dr. Jason Banks’ Board of Education seat for the remainder of the term.
Mr. White served on the Camden County Board of Education from 1998 to 2014, and his tenure on the Board included serving as the Vice-Chairman for two years and as the Chairman for five years, as well as receiving Level I and Level II North Carolina School Boards Association Master Board training. During his time on the Board of Education, he was also a member of the North Carolina School Boards Association All-State School Board for three years and received the Raleigh Dingman Award for North Carolina School Board Association's Outstanding Board Member of the Year, the highest honor given to a North Carolina school board member each year that recognizes leadership at the local, state or federal level.
Mr. White has served as a local board advisor to the North Carolina State Board of Education, as a member of the North Carolina Virtual School Board of Directors, and on the Ad Hoc Committee for Superintendent Standards. He has also served on numerous local community boards and organizations, including as the Chairman of the Albemarle Area Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Chairman of the Elizabeth City CrimeLine Board of Directors, a member of the Albemarle Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, and as treasurer of the Camden County 4-H Foundation.
Mr. White is a graduate of Camden County High School, class of 1977, and continued his education at the Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility Apprenticeship School. He then went on to complete 39 years of civil service to both the Naval Aviation Depot and the USCG Aviation Logistics Center. Mr. White is married to Bobbi White and they have two sons, Matthew and Zachary, both of whom are graduates of Camden County High School.
Mr. White wants to support public education in Camden County and be a strong advocate for the students, teachers, and staff of Camden County Schools.
