Camden County Board of Education has appointed G. Wayne White to fill Dr. Jason Banks’ Board of Education seat for the remainder of the term.

Mr. White served on the Camden County Board of Education from 1998 to 2014, and his tenure on the Board included serving as the Vice-Chairman for two years and as the Chairman for five years, as well as receiving Level I and Level II North Carolina School Boards Association Master Board training. During his time on the Board of Education, he was also a member of the North Carolina School Boards Association All-State School Board for three years and received the Raleigh Dingman Award for North Carolina School Board Association's Outstanding Board Member of the Year, the highest honor given to a North Carolina school board member each year that recognizes leadership at the local, state or federal level.

Mr. White has served as a local board advisor to the North Carolina State Board of Education, as a member of the North Carolina Virtual School Board of Directors, and on the Ad Hoc Committee for Superintendent Standards. He has also served on numerous local community boards and organizations, including as the Chairman of the Albemarle Area Salvation Army Advisory Board, the Chairman of the Elizabeth City CrimeLine Board of Directors, a member of the Albemarle Area Chamber of Commerce Education Committee, and as treasurer of the Camden County 4-H Foundation.

Mr. White is a graduate of Camden County High School, class of 1977, and continued his education at the Norfolk Naval Air Rework Facility Apprenticeship School. He then went on to complete 39 years of civil service to both the Naval Aviation Depot and the USCG Aviation Logistics Center. Mr. White is married to Bobbi White and they have two sons, Matthew and Zachary, both of whom are graduates of Camden County High School.

Mr. White wants to support public education in Camden County and be a strong advocate for the students, teachers, and staff of Camden County Schools.
